All too often we let the fear of the unknown stop us. Trying new things not only helps us to overcome our fears, but it also allows us to expand our minds and learn. Pushing ourselves beyond what we are used to leads to self-discovery — discovery about both the new things we try and about ourselves.
During our wellness journey at In Line Flooring, we will have many opportunities to try new things and break our normal routines. Our wellness program will create challenges to push us to drink our daily recommended amount of water, eat the right amount of fruit each day, or get at least 7 hours of sleep each night. These are things we should be doing but often struggle to complete. These company challenges will help us develop healthy habits over a period of time.
We will also have opportunities to try new foods. In fact, at our last shop meeting we barbecued Beyond Meat’s Bratwursts. Most people ate it for the first time and a few went back for seconds. We were very proud of their willingness to try and discover something new.
Moving from predictable to the unknown means taking a chance. A risk. As you contemplate trying something new, ask yourself: What’s the worst that could happen?
So much happens just outside of our comfort zone. Give it a try and go there.
